Heading South with Southerners

Left early this morning as one of the hire boats came pass us early and set up the lock for us. We then descended the Buckby flight which did seem to take a long time. These locks will be closed tomorrow due to a beam that has broken on lock 8. These locks were out of action for the best part of the winter and they still can't find a bit of wood rot on one of the beams. Lets hope it didn't fall on someones foot.... On our way down the horse drawn boat was locking through behind us, which gave us some good pics. The canal is very pretty when you get to the bottom and we took a slow journey onto Weedon. These fellows were doing a bit of line dancing as they went by....We moored up and believe it or not it wasn't long before the horse drawn boat came passed us again. They had to unhook the rope from the horse due to the fact that the boat behind us had such a high aerial. We then met up with some friends Steve and Ray as they had been working in Birmingham and took a slight detour to see us. We had missed lunch in The Narrowboat Inn at Weedon so we headed up the road to a pub which served food all day. After a nice lunch it was back to Derwent6 for coffee and a chill out, before they had to head off back down south. It was great to see them....

We then carried on our journey onto Gayton where we found a nice mooring for the night. It felt quite a busy day really but relaxing at the same time...
