The Thames is like a piece of glass today and the flow is slower than on the canals and it is just so pretty. Del wanted to polish the roof so after breakfast he set upon getting it done before it got too hot. We made the decision to get rid of the wood we had on the roof which we had been carrying round for the past two and a half months. We still have a locker full of wood, and a bag and a half of coal, and the forecast doesn't look cold. It gets rid of some weight and allows us to get closer to the bank when mooring.
We chilled a bit in the afternoon as it was lovely and warm. In the evening we met up with friends Joy and Steve who kindly picked us up from Sonning and took us to the Bird in the Hand pub not far away. They had a small beer festival on, where we tried a few ales and a BBQ, but we did choose to eat inside. It was a good choice, and we had a lovely meal together. Thanks guys it was nice to see you both.We walked back the three quarters of a mile along the towpath in the dark back to Derwent6, and got to bed at 1.00am
