Cliff's 40th Birthday weekend

Thursday 9th June We walked to the station early this morning and travelled down to Kent. We had a good journey down and saw Pam and Alf (Al's Mum and Dad) before we met up with Bernie and Sarah who had the week off. We had planned to see Del's dad (Len) in hospital, but the good news was that they had discharged him late in the afternoon. It gave us some time to catch up with Bernie and Sarah in the afternoon. In the evening Del was out gliding with Bernie and Steve. We came back to a nice chili quite late and then had a relaxing evening.

Friday 10th June We left in the morning to go down to Birchington to see Len at home. He was eating well but looked a bit pale. Today was Cliff's (Del's brother) 40th Birthday and he was having a party in the evening. Len was adamant he wanted to go. It was then back to Bernie and Sarah's (via Pam and Alf's as we had to deliver a prescription) for a shower and get ready for the evening. We all had a fantastic time and Cliff enjoyed himself. Del had a bit too much to drink, but you've got to have a drink with your brother haven't you!!! We got to bed at 2.00am in the morning.

Saturday 11th June We were up late and the morning just seemed to fly by. In the afternoon Del was out gliding with Bernie and Steve while Al went to a school reunion. She went back to her old school Wally Hall in Sevenoaks, and everyone met in an old pub haunt in town before all going back to class, meeting up with some of the old teachers and exploring the school whilst reminiscing. It was great to see everyone and find out how they had got on in life. In the evening we were out again for a continued Birthday meal at the Beeches Restaurant hosted by Maxine and Graham. Another great evening with good food. We got home at 2.00am again Phew!

Sunday 12th June By this time it was all catching up with us and it was a drizzling morning but the boys still went out gliding for a hour. We came back and had a lovely late breakfast. We then sorted out a few things before we headed back to Al's Mum and Dad's We had a few hours with them before we got the train back to Derwent6. We arrived home at 8.30pm and the rain which we had all day had stopped. We were so knackered we just fell into bed...
