On Saturday morning we set off for Market Harborough by booking the bus service from Welford Wharf. It turned out to be a bit better because it takes a more direct route if there are no pick ups in the remote areas. We then got the train to Leicester where we changed to get to Melton Mowbray. Here we were met by Zoe and Greg and also Susie who had a 50th Birthday party in the evening. Zoe, Susie and Alison all went to school together thirty nine years ago.
We went back to Susie's, via the shops for drinks. Here we met up with her other half Steve and then we walked down to the local field where Steve was helping out with the local village firework display at Skillington near Grantham.
Afterwards it was all in the Black Horse pub which was next door to Susie and Steve's house. Being a local we had a lock in and didn't come out till two in the morning, pretty well worse for wear and very tired after last night. It didn't help that we were sleeping next to another guy sleeping on the floor at Susie's who snored all night long (what was left of it!).
On Sunday we were up again at 8.30am with a hangover and the smell of bacon and eggs Susie and Steve had cooked for us all.
Al recovered with the girls all catching up with Strictly after a great night out. We left at midday, after saying our goodbyes, with Zoe and Greg who gave us a lift back to Melton Mowbray in their car.
We just made the train and changed at Leicester again where we missed our connection but eventually got back to Market Harborough. We got a taxi back to Derwent6 as there are no buses on a Sunday.
As you can imaging when we arrived back to Derwent6 it was very cold, so the fire went on with the central heating and it wasn't long before Derwent6 was lovely and toasty and we were asleep. Al woke up just in time to see the results show of Strictly Come Dancing and then we went back to bed!
