They had loads of old tractors, American and British cars, and commercial and military vehicles. 
They also had a old 1955 Green Goddess fire engine with a Francis search lamp on the roof, just the same as Derwent6 has on the bow. 
We had a good look around and then found a nice spot in the sunshine with our Fish & Chips and watched the parade go by. 
We picked up a little memento for Derwent6 and then made our way back to the Wendover Arm. 
We were surprised to see them still working on it and even more surprised to see David Suchet helping as well. He was digging out a culvert and shouted hello and also asked us to help. We might just do that!
They have now got the canal in water nearly up to bridge four. 
It was nice to see that on the bridges and steps they had put name plaques of everyone who had helped in making this canal happen. 
This will be a lovely cruise and the wildlife in this area is some of the best we have seen, it is expected to be finished by the end of this year, 2010.
It started at midday and went on till midnight (that's a lot of drinking). There were six bands playing, mainly pop and rock. We made friends with a few people (as you do) and we just had a great afternoon and evening.
We staggered home in the dark having to go through some very dense woods, but we made it back to Derwent6 without falling into the reservoirs. We did fall into bed though at around 12.30am.
We got talking (as you do) and it turned out that Neil (the guy on the tiller) actually worked on the dialysis machines in Canterbury hospital and actually knew Del's Dad, Len. What are the chances of that... Small World!
When we got to the top of the locks we said our goodbye's to Neil and Rosie and turned into the Wendover Arm.
It was very narrow and very shallow in places but at idle we managed to get through. 
We got to the end of the basin and managed to get in a nice spot with a TV signal for the weekend. 
It is so quiet here and the bird life is just fantastic. We manage to get this shot of a black headed gull diving in the water for fish. 
It's a shame that such a good day finished with a very poor England performance.
We soon went through Soulbury's three locks and Leighton locks which were all in our favour.
We then stopped at Tesco's for a top up of provisions before heading off to Grove lock. We then got a shout from a stranded boater who's engine had stopped dead. They wanted a tow to the nearest marina, our good deed for the day. 
We were then back into countryside and with the locks still in our favour we pushed on until we ran out of energy. 
At Slapton lock Al was pleased to see this little herb garden and was taking some cuttings with the scissors. 
We did ten miles and eleven locks and we were beginning to feel it and when we got to beautiful views with the Lion on the hill, we decided to moor up. 
After watching the French lose to Mexico, we just crashed out into bed..... 
When we got to the station we were amazed at the boats which are now using the station moorings. 
This used to be an area where you wouldn't want to leave your boat, but things have really improved. We then made our way round Milton Keynes as the weather started to get better. They really have cleaned it up around here as well, and it was pleasant cruising. Lots of flowers and leafy trees made it seem a big change from the winter last year.
The wind had been biting and you could feel it when the sun went in, but the clouds moved out the way a bit later. We did pass this guy taking eight dogs for a walk and a swim. He never used a lead and just look at the size of his poo bag. The dogs were just loving it!!! 
After going through Fenny Stratford lock we moored up in a nice sunny spot. 
We got out the BBQ and had lunch before settling in to watch Spain in the football. Oh Dear!
