What a contrast in weather today..It started with bright sunshine so we thought we would go and try out the local newsagents and pick up a paper and a few goodies. It was a nice pleasant footpath past the 13th Century church into Hillmorton village. There had been a few alterations done, like extensions in the 15th and 16th century, but in 2008 it had new front doors which have been kept in the style of the church.

We could see the weather starting to change and it was turning cold, so headed back to Derwent6. The wind really got up and then the rain buffered Derwent6 around like a tin can. With the fire lit, all the hatches closed, and the kettle brewing nothing seemed to bother us. In the afternoon it was read the papers, a bit of telly, and Sunday steak.

Looks like one of those hi-tech solar powered "green" bollards to me...
Total guess, it is a solar panel to supply power for equipment monitoring water levels but it would need to have a battery somewhere for the equipment to work at night..
I think it`s one of those things i read about somewhere that records lock use.
