Our first ring completed

The rain had been hitting the roof all night and when we got up this morning it was still raining hard....shall we move or not!!!! Oh ok then...Out came the Nubrella and we set off, but within ten minutes it stopped, so no pictures.....

The wind had dropped and the water was dripping off the trees, it was so tranquil. We got to the first lock ok and at the second lock it was obvious that the water levels were low. We took it slowly but couldn't moor up due to it being so shallow. The water when draining the lock took us sideways, and got us wedged across the canal. we had to open the lock gates to get us off but this made it shallow all the way up the five flight of locks. The good news was that the sun had come out and the coats were off. The weather had made it so green and the trees were hanging low, but it was very pretty...

We got to Saddington tunnel which was no problem. It was full of bats which were picked up in the lamp.

We made our way onto Debdale marina, (Derwent6's birth place,) and picked up some diesel. At 50p a litre we were pleased we did. "Fill her to the brim" we said, and yes at any split, nice people at Debdale. We thought we would push on to Foxton and had some luck at the swing bridge with it open for a couple of hire boaters not knowing what they were doing. We then moored up for the night.
We then had our exercise for the day with a sleep in the afternoon and then a walk up to the pub in Foxton village, The Black Horse. They had a band playing, Finger's & Fumb's, and it turned out to be a great night. We had a good meal and again we had a few drinks, so with torch in hand we just about got back to Derwent6 to crash out.

So our first ring completed....Derwent6 has travelled......
