High in the Welsh Valley's

There was a bit of a drizzle in the air when we got up this morning so Al cooked a fried breakfast to see us on our way. We got off at 11.00am and soon we were taking in some great scenery. We soon got to Chirk Aqueduct. This is a aqueduct that seems to get over looked but it is as spectacular as it's big brother. Derwent6 did seem to struggle across it, we had problems with the leaves getting wrapped round the propeller and the water current in shallow water. It felt we could have pulled Derwent6 across faster. (Lucky we don't do fast) We had even more of a problem in Chirk tunnel, where the leaves were even worse, and we just managed to keep Derwent6 off the tunnel walls. We then got to the edge of the valley and you are higher than the chimneys, a weird feeling. We moored up just before the English Heritage site of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. We then had a walk across the aqueduct to Trevor and looked in the basin and the information centre. We checked out all the local pubs to see if anything was going on but we ended up going back to Derwent6. Al cooked dinner and we watched a DVD in the evening. Will Derwent6 make it to Llangollen with the weight of Al's shoes....watch this space!
