Home sweet home and no hot water!

When we got back to Derwent6 from Kent we just kept our fingers crossed as we stepped on board.. The first thing was Derwent6 didn't feel as damp as it normally does. Del took up the inspection hatch in the bathroom and it was dry, so it was down to the engine room where we could see more water, we pulled out another 2 litres, so where is it coming from?

The following morning we put on the central heating after checking the leak again, and changing the damp nappy we had put down the night before, as it does dry out under the floorboards..  This gave us another problem as we didn't have any hot water.. Even with the immersion on we didn't have hot water. All the radiators were hot and the pipes all seemed ok except for the thermostatic mixer valve which was leaking a small drip coming from under the tap head, and it was not changing the temperature of the hot water. It could have been leaking for ages, but we haven't heard the water pump going off.. Maybe this is because of the pressure in the hot water tank..

We still had the car, and first things first we had to pick Tooty up. Then we had a Tesco's delivery coming at 10.00am, and then we set off to get a new mixer valve..  Del fitted it in the afternoon and found bits in the pipe, so it was part of the problem for sure..

With the new valve things worked great and it wasn't leaking.

Lets see if things are any better in the morning.. fingers crossed!!! Who says its easy living on a boat!!
