R.I.P. Len 1937 - 2011 ( Best Dad in the World)

We slept very well considering and Len had a peaceful night which meant the drugs were working well. In the morning he had gone down hill again and couldn't speak much. We managed to get a few sentences out of him, one saying he was in no pain and another saying not to worry about him. Cliff (Del's Brother) had done a lovely Sunday lunch for all the family and it took the pressure off. We were with him for all of the day and we still played his country music. At 10.30pm he let out a yell and we all gathered round him. He opened his eyes and gave us all a good last look and took his last breath with a smile. It was like he fell asleep and was so peaceful, we will all never forget it. We know how much he loved following this blog and being on Derwent6, so thanks Dad for helping us through life and making everything so much fun. You will be sadly missed, but please keep guiding us.......

Del and Al, these words probably won't mean much considering the pain you must be feeling.

We are so very very sorry to hear of your loss. From the little time we have known you we understand Len was a lovely man and a much loved dad. His family were with him when he needed them most and now he is at peace knowing he was loved by you all. God bless to you all.
Many hugs and sinsere regards

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

RIP Len - thank you for the memories.

Del and Al, please be thankful for such a peaceful end and that you were all together when his time came.

It obviously would have been better if it never happened but the best any of us can hope for is to go without pain and be surrounded by our family.

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

You cannot wish for a better exit than that; pain free, dignified, in your own home and surrounded by a loving family. Bless him.

I came by this blog as a result of Axiom prop's and have been captivated by it for months now. Having followed events I felt it right to say how saddened I was to read about your dad - I too watched my dad pass away peacefully after 30 years of MS, take comfort that he went in peace.

I have been following your great blog for some time now without leaving a comment. Today however I offer my condolences on your loss, but I must also say that Len was a very lucky man to have had his caring and loving family there for him during the last few days of his life I am sure that it must have given him great comfort.

I am all so sure he will enjoy regularly checking your blog for all your future updates and adventures on Derwent6

So sorry to hear of your sad loss, Len must have been so proud of you all and justly so.It's hard to lose someone so close, but his peaceful passing will have hopefully eased your grief, if only a little. Take care Debbie.
