A King for a Day

We had a bit of a lay in this morning after a lot of early starts recently. We found out that there was a King Harold Day at Waltham Abbey, so made our way over there at around midday. This event was held because King Harold is buried here at Waltham Abbey and the Battle of Hastings in 1066 was on the 14th October. It turned out to be a very good day. We first went into the Abbey which is beautiful and full of history. We then went round the festival where they were dressed up in full costume and you could watch them making tools, swords and arrows from that era.

Of course the Morris men were there and archery. They were making clothes from lambs wool and there were plenty of animals for the kids. We then walked into town and went to the Museum which was very good and worth going too.

On our walk back to Derwent6 we had to pass Mc Donald's. We don't get much chance to have fast food so it was great to grab a Big Mac on the way back. Grand Prix qualifying and Strictly tonight so lit the fire to snuggle down for the evening.
